April 5th - They're Back!

C09 and a female have returned to Wildwing Lake for a 4th season. They are using the nest platfrom from the past 2 nestings.
Some mating activity was evident as we were watching. In addition, much new nesting material (sticks and lake moss) has already been added.

The new material all but covers the garbage can lid used to shroud the nest to discourage geese from using the platform.

C09 standing in front of the female he is with. We don't know if this is the female he was with last summer, but we are sure more observations will reveal her identity.

C09's mate last year was caught and banded for ease in identifying her this summer. She has has a FWS silver band on her left leg and lavender over blue bands on her right leg.

Please let us know if you see this female!
